SUMMARY
This book is about Alex Rider, a teenage spy that wants nothing more but to be a normal kid. He would like nothing more than to kick back, go to school, and hang out with his friends. But he knows that it won't happen. He's just too good and too important. So MI6 sends him on his most dangerous mission yet. He goes to Greenfields, a lab for researching plants, and is told to spy on Leonard Straik, the director. He does what he's asked to, but then he is delayed, and accidentally steps into poison dome, a dome of all the poisonous plants that Greenfields has researched on, and some guards follow him with machetes to strike him down. The only thing he has to defend himself is his diamond edged blade, about 3-4 cm in length. he cuts a gap in the protective poison defender and the guard slips. After the guard dies a horrible death, Alex shudders and tries to figure out how he will get on his school bus when he is inside a crazy dome of poisonous species. He uses the guard's key to get out, and jumps on top of the bus and jumps in through the window. He is interrogated by the principal and is told that he is on a suspension for the day. He wants to find out more and realizes the man who he had seen with Leonard Straik was the First Aid owner, Desmond McCain. He goes to a church that could possibly be his hide out for his criminality. He goes, but then gets captured by Myra Beckett, McCain's bride-to-be, and is flown to Kenya, where McCain is a part owner of a camp. He is planning on a disaster to make people give donations, but then to realize that the plague cannot be stopped. So Desmond McCain is out to destroy the world and get money, then escape to Switzerland. Alex is tortured because McCain wants to know how much the MI6 know about him. He tells the truth, but then is told he is stll going to be tortured, where he has to lever himself so he would not fall into the river and get eaten by crocodiles. A RAW agent named Rahim shoots Beckett, and rescues Alex and brings him to his camp. He tells Alex that he has some plastic explosive, and while Rahim is taking a nap, sneaks off to blow up part of the river irrigation system to drown the wheat that will cause the disaster. But McCain's guards track him down, and as the system blows up, the man is caught in the hurricane of water. Alex is then rescued by Rahim, and is told off for sneaking off without informing him. As he finishes the sentence, he is shot twice by McCain, who hid himself in the back part of the plane. He tells Alex to get out and then tries to shoot him, but he hits the gas tank instead. Alex has a little pen that is actually an explosive, then attaches it to the gas tank and rolls it toward McCain. McCain blows up, and then Alex passes out, and woke in the hospital of London.
PERSONAL OPINIONS
I think this book was interesting because it was suspenseful, exciting and had all the qualities that is required to in order to have a good book. I did not want to stop reading.
IF I WAS THE AUTHOR...
If I was the author, I would change the part where Alex is unconscious after McCain blows up, because I would want the questions the police had for him answered, such as what do you think you were doing, blowing up a huge part of the African irrigation system? And when he answers that he saved a million people from dying, Now billions of people in Africa are now short on water. What do you think of that?
THANK YOU OR READING MY BOOK REPORT!!!!!
